IN-Stitches Workshop

A massive Thank You to Sarah and Rae from IN -Stitches who created the most enjoyable series of sewing workshops for both our youth and adult groups.

The careful planning and sensitive tuition they gave meant that everyone succeeded in their sewing projects and several of the girls and ladies have now invested in their own new machines.  Charity trustees have been equally inspired and have signed up for sewing courses themselves!

Friendships were formed, tips were shared and a jolly good time was had by all.

It’s been so good for E to have that safe space where she doesn’t have to worry about being picked on or having to mask- I really can’t thank you enough for organising it.

It was a nice group, the ladies were lovely, it was nice not having to worry about making small talk and having to fit it and that she felt she could just be herself. I think it’s great to provide the girls with new experiences in safe spaces where they don’t feel they have to mask. Thank you so much for organising & we look forward to the next course!

Rachel and Sarah were kind, patient and fun. I truly recommend their workshops. The space was welcoming without being too intimidating.  And sewing is a skill that provides the right level of engagement without being too sensory overwhelming. The fact that sessions were just 2 hrs each also help me with sensory regulation.

These sessions were amazing. My daughter struggles a lot with perfectionism and it makes trying new things very difficult. However the tremendous support she was given by all the ladies was amazing. She was given strong direction about only using the machine when she was completely reading, not just physically but mentally too. She has been using these techniques at home and has even asked for help when she felt she needed it (which is a massive thing for her as she tries to be very independent). N has even been able to try a new after school activity since starting the sewing club as it’s been successful it’s given her confidence to try something new.

Excellent support with questions and reassurance where my confidence may have been lacking in parts. I loved how long each session was, the structure of the sessions (break in the middle to make a drink), how friendly everyone was. Listed instructions was extra helpful and guidance over what materials we needed to purchase was really useful too.

I feel more confident in myself and the course was perfect timing in terms of issues going on in my personal life too.
